Hare Cottage Accessibility

Hare is the largest of the three accessible cottages which make up the Farm’s Clocktower building. From Ruskway Lane, after you pass through the automatic electric gates, there is a 200-metre driveway which leads to the clocktower building on your left and the cottages’ car park, (dedicated disabled spaces) on your right.

Hare is the first cottage you come to. It is accessed via a sandstone front patio from the car park, or over the reinforced grass front lawn. The cottage benefits from an 86cm wide two-part stable style front door. The upper part is partially glazed and the lower is full timber. Both the car park and the approach to the front door are served by motion activated security lights.

Hare’s front door leads into the cottage’s open plan kitchen / sitting room. The cottage is wheelchair friendly and step free throughout. The floors are all light oak, except in the wet room which benefits from non-slip Altro flooring. We can lend guests a walking frame if needed. Hare has two electric riser/recliner armchairs.

Doors to the bedrooms and the wet room are made of waxed light oak and are 81cm wide.

Electrical sockets are set at a height of 51cm.

Light switches are set at a height of 110cm.

Lawn facing kitchen windowsill is set at a height of 80cm.

The fitted kitchen worktop is set at a height of 91cm.

The following are fitted beneath the worktop: storage cupboards and drawers, washer/dryer, dishwasher, oven, refrigerator, freezer.

The following are located at worktop level: butler’s sink with easy turn lever mixer tap, four ring glass induction hob, microwave oven, electric toaster and electric kettle.

There is a rectangular dining table with a height of 77cm.

The seat height of the four leather covered dining chairs is 46cm.

The seat height of the two leather tub chairs is 40cm.

The lowest seat height of the two leather riser/recliners is 42cm.

There is a nesting set of three light oak coffee tables. The tallest is 52 cm high.

A 97cm wide hallway leads from the open plan kitchen / sitting room. First on the left is the twin bedroom. This contains:

• A fitted wardrobe with hanging rail and shelve. There is a fitted Yale laptop wide safe at a height of 42cm, and next to it is an electric hairdryer.
• An 81cm high dresser.
• Two light oak twin beds, 200cm long, 97cm wide and with a mattress height of 59cm.
• Firm ortho style mattresses with soft mattress toppers are provided.
• Four pillows are provided as standard, but more are available on request. Both fibre fill and down are available.
• A bed lever will be provided on request.
• A light oak bedside table 50cm wide, 32cm deep and 75cm high.
• Light switches operable from inside the doorway and from bed.
• A bentwood chair without arms. Seat height is 45cm

Second on the left is the double bedroom. This contains:

• A fitted wardrobe with hanging rail and shelves.
• A light oak double bed, 200cm long, 142cm wide and with a mattress height of 62cm.
• A firm ortho style mattress with soft mattress topper is provided.
• A bed lever will be provided on request.
• Two light oak bedside tables 50cm wide, 32cm deep and 75cm high.
• Light switches operable from inside the doorway and from bed.

At the end of the hallway is the wheel-in wet room. This contains:

• Non-slip Altro flooring
• A wall mounted Vado thermostatic shower with lever controls at a height of 105cm, and both a fixed overhead unit and a hand unit.
• Grab-rails
• A free-standing adjustable padded shower chair with back and arms.
• A lavatory with a seat height of 54cm. An adjustable loo frame will be fitted on request.
• A washbasin with a height of 80cm and easy turn lever mixer tap.
• A heated towel rail - the top of which is 116cm high.

At the end of the hallway on the right is the back door which leads out to the south facing sandstone patio, which looks onto the hens’ apple orchard.
